She then enrolled at the University of the Pacific and studied law for one semester before dropping out to pursue her acting career.
In 1978, Curtis made her film debut as Laurie Strode in the classic horror movie Halloween. Producer Debra Hill cast Curtis because her mother, also an actress, was known for her roles in horror films.
